Things I learned this Fakesgiving:
- I can fit 80 people (and 10 children under the age of 4!) in my backyard,
- Three turkeys are juuuuust barely enough to feed a small army,
- Egg nog + Kahlua is a very tasty and satisfying treat to wind down at the end of a successful party, and
- Fakesgiving has become bigger than I ever even imagined.
I’m still processing everything from last Saturday’s 6th Annual Fakesgiving festivities, but if I were to sum it up in one word, it would be: AWESOME. Here’s a photo recap of how it all went down.
**But first, I need to give a special LL805 shout out to my incredible mom Mary Kay and mother-in-law Vicki for being straight-up work horses so that I could enjoy my own party [p.s., they’re the ones to thank for sending you all home with a clean casserole dish and making sure your food made it to your plate hot and ready]!**
The pre-prep: turkey time!We rented tables and chairs [a must!], and decorated them with my MIL’s vintage tablecloths and by “shopping” around my house for fall decor. We placed signs in our front yard so people would know to come through to the backyard straight away.As per tradition, everyone writes what they are thankful for on our Thankful Tree.Gathering around to say some words of thanks and to offer up a prayer for the many blessings in our lives.Let’s eat! We did it!We also collected donations of clothes and personal items that will benefit children placed in emergency foster care in Ventura County — everyone was so generous with their contributions!
The s’mores bar was a hit at the end of the night! …and of course, people loved being over at the drinks table We also set up a photo area for quick snapshots as well as photos from each Faksgiving! Here’s me, my little sister, my mom, and my Grammy!
Hope you enjoyed looking through our pictures! Remember — you don’t have to host this many people to have your own Fakesgiving celebration — don’t forget to check out Parts 1, 2, and 3 of our Fakesgiving/Friendsgiving series!
