What did you do with all of that extra sunlight on Tuesday? This is white-wine-drinking, porch-sitting, live music weather — and we are soaking in every minute of it!
Here are five ways to take advantage of these balmy summer evenings…
1. Outdoor Concerts :: because it gives you a great excuse to drink wine out of a travel coffee mug and have it be socially appropriate (or is that not socially appropriate…?)
- Janss Marketplace Summer Concert Series [Thousand Oaks]: Check it out each Wednesday night from 6-8pm — this week kicks off the series with Ticket to Ride, a Beatles tribute band! Don’t forget to register for a chance to win great prizes!
- Sun Sets Summer Concert series [Calabasas Lake]: Sunday, June 25 starts with a dance party band playing rock, soul, disco, and more. Bring your picnic and your dancing shoes!
- Heritage Square Summer Concert Series [Oxnard]: Featuring a wide variety of musical genres every Friday night this summer, from 6-8:30pm
2. Get Active :: because sunny evenings means more time to work up a sweat in the great outdoors!
- Boogie Nights Summer Run Series [Ventura Promenade]: 5k series now through July 19, $20/race!
- Nite Moves Run + Swim Duathlon Series [Santa Barbara]: Wednesday evenings at Ledbetter Beach through August 30th
3. Food + Wine :: because these are a few of my faaavorite things…
- Santa Barbara Wine + Food Festival [Saturday, June 24] sample some of the best stuff coming out of California’s beautiful wine country!
- Conejo Food + Wine Festival [Sunday, June 25] This is the perfect opportunity to get a sampling of all of the wonderful dining options in the greater Conejo Valley [and beyond!]
4. Cultural Festivals :: because it means food, live music, and celebrating different cultures
- 39th Annual Ventura County Greek Festival [Camarillo, June 23-25]: live Greek music, vendors, a kids play area, and most importantly, baklava! Admission is $3
- 97th Midsummer Festival [Agoura Hills]: For all things Swedish, head to Vasa Park for Scandinavian festivities, swimming, a huuuuge water slide, folk dancing, and more!
5. Summer Entertaining :: because sometimes, you want the party to come to you.
Throw a dinner party in your backyard, host a wine night, or even make a backyard movie theater! Get creative
We hope this post got you all jazzed for summer [can you sense our excitement?!]. Go and spend your California tax dollars by partaking in all of these amazing community events, and soak up the heatwave sunshine!
