…talk about killing two birds with one stone!
For today’s Work It Wednesday, we have a local event that will allow you to burn those calories while also giving back to a great local cause! Sounds amazing, right!?
The HOPE4Kids Festival and Run is a community event that benefits the foster youth of Ventura County. This 5K, 10K, and kids one mile “fun run” event takes place on Saturday, April 23rd from 8am to 2pm at the Camarillo Community Park. The festival and run is a community effort sponsored by Raising Hope Inc., Ventura County Children and Family Services, Living Oaks Community Church, and several other community partners.
This event is to raise awareness for the needs of foster youth in Ventura County as well as the need for additional foster families. I don’t know about you, but I wasn’t aware of the large foster youth population here in Ventura County — which is an obvious reason why this event is so beneficial and necessary for our community.
Proceeds from this event will go directly to assist Ventura County foster youth and their needs, such as: education, extracurricular activities, mentoring, and most importantly, safe and positive homes.
We’ve run in other local races and always have a blast {I know it sounds weird, but it’s true!!}. We know that this event will be just as fun, and better yet, you’ll feel great knowing that you’re supporting a great cause and giving back to an urgent need in your community!
In addition to the runs, there will also be food trucks, a silent auction, youth performances, a free Kidzone (bouncy houses, rock wall, games, and more!), as well as an adoption and foster fair.
If you are interested in registering, donating, or volunteering at this event, please be sure to check out their website here!
We hope you all have an amazing Work It Wednesday (we’re already half way through the work week, yay!) and if you run or attend the HOPE4Kids Festival and Run, be sure to tag us on Instagram, Facebook and/or Twitter @LocalLove805.
xx~
